Critical Issues in Race, Class and Leadership in Education (CIRCLE) Asian Pacific American Student Services, University of Southern California
Participant Application
C.I.R.C.L.E. is in its thirteenth year as a university leadership project at USC. CIRCLE focuses on creating an environment for leadership development that is based upon and sensitive to Asian Pacific American issues. It is meant to complement and expand upon historic forms of leadership while challenging traditional norms which are based upon individualistic values.
The project format will be weekly, 2-hour seminars which span the Fall semester but ends before Thanksgiving. Seminars will introduce topics and issues through guest speakers, exercises, videos, and discussion. Also included in the curriculum is a mandatory two-day overnight retreat on November 6-7 with participants from our partner project at UCLA.
Participation in C.I.R.C.L.E. is competitive and limited to 15 students this year.
The application deadline for 1999-00 is: Friday, October 1st with the first official seminar scheduled for the week of Oct. 4th. An informational orientation will be hosted during the prior week, on Monday, Sept. 27 and Tues. Sept. 28 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in STU 410 (in the APASS conference room). For more information, contact Ann Lo or Alden Chiu at (213) 740-4999 or e-mail apass@usc.edu.
