APASG (Asian Pacific American Support Group) Scholarship Awards

Funding one's higher education has always been a challenge, particularly at a private institution like USC. Providing financial assistance while recognizing academic merit has been a proven strategy. With the Asian Pacific American Support Group (APASG), we went a little futher.

Not only would the APASG recognize outstanding academic merit and weigh financial need into its overall award poll, but the APASG would also look for leadership, service and involvement in the Asian Pacific American community and a relationshop with that unique experience. So in 1984, the APASG created a scholarship endowment at USC that supports the APASG Scholarship Fund.

Sine 1984, the fun has awarded over 220 students with over $300,000 in scholarships and the fun continues to grow each year thanks to the generousity of a few individuals and countless other suporters of APASG and APASS scholarship events. The APASG endowment, in fact, is currently equally made up of large gifts from individuals or foundations and many smaller gifts at fundraising events or through campaigns.

The APASG Scholarship program is administered by APASS and has an application cycle that runs from December to the end of the first week after Spring break. Students need to meet the following criteria to apply:

Applicans must also apply for financial aid, although need is not a requirement for the award as some awards will be made on merit alone.

The APGASG Scholarship Fund provides BOTH general and designated scholarships through the same application process

Named and Designated Scholarships

The Asian Pacific American Support Group Scholarship program was established to award scholarships to students enrolled in a full-time degree seeking program at the University of Southern who exemplify an identification with or commitment to the Asian Pacific American community. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic and personal merit and awarded based upon financial need eligibility. In special situations, some awards may be based upon merit alone.

You can be a transfer student, a graduate student or a continuing undergraduate student. Being involved with the Asian Pacific American Community is a plus. The scholarship recipients are awarded between 1000 and 2500 dollars. Come pick up an application at Student Union 410 or download them here.
