Handprint Entertainment is considered to be dedicated to "youth content" and they represent over 150 models, singers, and actors. They are also a production company and are linked to a movie project with Madonna. In addition, Jane Berliner recently left CAA to head the production division at Handprint, and she is listed on IMDB as Jon's agent. 03.19.01- Seems Artisan, who owns Skeletons in the Closet, is in some trouble. According to Variety, they have formally pulled the company from IPO'ing and have hired a pair of investment banks to review offers for the company. Possible interested investors named were Lions Gate, MGM, and even the WWF; however, negotiations have seemed to have stalled over price -- Artisan wants more than what investors are willing to pay for it. It seems as though Artisan's recent deal with Showtime for exclusive TV rights for many of it's movies through 2008 did not help Artisan's situation much. It was also stated in another Variety article that Showtime often "buys unreleased theatricals to flesh out its firstrun lineup." What does this all mean for SITC in the long-run? When is this movie going to be released already?! Jackson's "Ocean" Deeper Than Expected
Many people are familiar with Jonathan Jackson from his very successful six-year run playing the beloved Lucky Spencer on the hit ABC soap opera General Hospital. We also got our first chance to see Jonathan on the big screen, starring opposite Michelle Pfeiffer, Treat Williams, and Whoopi Goldberg, in The Deep End of the Ocean.
However, many people don't know that Jackson is also a talented musician. While playing Vincent Capadora, Jonathan was inspired to write the song "The Deep End of the Ocean." I purchased a copy of the song and I am happy that I did. Jonathan has an amazing gift for conveying the deep emotion of his character through a song.
The Deep End of the Ocean is about the relationship between a mother and her seventeen-year-old son. When they are young children, Vincent and his younger brother Ben go with their mother Beth (Michele Pfeiffer) to her high school reunion. Ben disappears from the reunion, and Vincent blames himself for Ben's disappearance. He never forgives himself for losing Ben.
Ben returns nine years later and the family tries to put the pieces back together. Vincent cannot forgive himself for the pain he caused his mother and the rest of his family. In fact, knowing that his family forgives him makes it more difficult for Vincent to forgive himself for his mistake.
Jonathan expresses Vincent's pain through lines like "You can't convince me I'm clean. I'm guilty. I lost your baby", "I can't break this shell I'm in" and "It kills me to know that I've been forgiven."
The simple arrangements of acoustic guitar, drums, and wave-like sound effects are very calming. The waves along with the lyrics help paint a picture of the waves of painful emotion that are going inside Vincent's heart. Jonathan's voice is amazingly powerful and sounds more mature than his seventeen years.
Not only does Jonathan have a bright future as an actor, he has a promising future as a musician as well. We will be hearing Jonathan Jackson for a long to time to come.
