Complete with articles, pics, reviews, and links! More reviews to come soon! 6.28.00- New poll today. Sorry if it's kinda strange...what can I say? I was in a strange mood. The previous poll's results are as follows: You can see all of J2's previous poll results on this page. 6.28.00- In the mood for some fun speculation? Go check out the Discussion Forum over at Spider-Man Hype where there are some avid Jonathan supporters to play the part of Peter Parker (try saying that 5 times fast). "Great and award winning young actor. He received critical acclaim for his role in The Deep End of the Ocean. Jonathan has been nominated for several prestigious awards, He’s one of the favourites for the role of Anakin Skywalker, he’s only seventeen, 5'10 tall and he’ll be able to do all the physical stuff, because he’s very athletic. 'Jonathan's extraordinary talent takes you beyond your perception of age into the soul of a wise man.'"6.28.00- Jonathan was just *briefly* shown on E! on Monday's feature on Hollywood virgins. They just showed some footage from the 2000 Emmy's, but Jon didn't say anything. There's a snappy of him over at Jackson Lane. 6.27.00- Click HERE to read my report and review of the night. True Rights rocked!!
6.26.00- Here's a new article catching up with Jonathan in the ABC SID:
He may have lost the battle to play Anakin Skywalker, but Jonathan Jackson is winning the war!
There were no explosions. The world didn't come to an end. Cable services was not interrupted. In fact, the day that Jonathan Jackson ran into Jacob YOung, his replacement as Lucky on GH, the only sound that coule be heard was...laughter? "We were just joking aorudn in the hair and make-up room," explaines Jackson, who encountered Young during a recent visit to the GH set. "We were goofing off."
However, according to Young, his predecessor is leaving outa few crucial details from their unexpected run-in. "I said to him, 'I hear thinga are going really well for you. I wish you all the best,' recalls Young." Then he goes, ' This is for you.'He pulled out a card all myseterious...almost Lucky-like. I took it back to my dressing room and opened it. Inscribed on the inside was, 'I hope everything goes well for you. Thank you for keeping Lucky alive."
"That was a very classy thing to do," says Jackson's one-time GH dad, Anthony Geary. "Most actors wouldnt' be that gracioius." Jackson's simply yet poignant message to Young represents a bit of a turnaround for the three-time Emmy winner, who previously was chilly to the idea of a recast. "Jacob had nothing to do with [the show's decision]," he says, "so I just thought that it would be nice to let him know that it was cool with me."
PROBLEM CHILD
Shortly after completing TIAPH, Jackson flew to Ireland to tackle the role of another tortured teen, this time in the Jim Sheridan-produced feater, The Smiling Suicide Club. But the similarities between the two roles end there. "My character in Purple Haze was a very popular, normal kid whose life went downhill," he explains. "In Suicide Club, [that character] is in a psych ward because he tried to kill himself, and he wasn't a popular kind of person. And dealing with an addiction and dealing with suicide are different demons. Their struggles are very different."
Most recently, Jackson returned from New Hampshire where he completed work on another independent film, Skeletons in the Closet, a mystery/thriller that focuses on a combative relationship between a boy and his father [Treat Williams, who played Jackson's Deep End dad]. Next up, the young actor will be hitting the festival circuit with True Rights, the indie he appears in with brother Richard Lee, before tackling a project that has been a long time coming. "I wouldn't mind having a little time off," he teases, "before I jump into my next thing."
WHEN YOU DISH UPON A STAR
"I've always looked at it as, 'If it happens , that's great, and if it doesn't that that's great also," explains the devout Christian. "Even in the short amount of years that I've been in the business, there have been things that appear a certain way, and then years down the road, I look back and think, 'Wow, I'm really glad that things worked out the way that they did.' So I'm definitely not disappointed about it. There are a lot of other cool projects out there, and I'm looking forward to digging into something else."
In other words, the empire will strike back!
FYI
THE MUSIC MAN: Jackson, who as part of the band Scarlet Road, sings and plays guitar, performed songs for two of his upcoming films -- True Rights and Skeletons in the Closet.
MONEY DOESN'T CHANGE EVERYTHING: "I just got my trust fund," reveals that just-turned 18 year-old. "I plan to invest it. I'm not going to be stupid with my money."
BIG MAN ON CAMPUS: Jackson has no immediate plans to attend college. "Not at this point," he says. "Right now, I'm just focusing on work. [But] college will definitely be there."
6.26.00- From the Conway Daily newspaper:
Gordon Clapp is back in town after wrapping up
the NYPD Blue season to appear in fellow Kennett
High graduate Wayne
Powers's Skeletons in the Closet, a
psycho-thriller now being shot in Mount
Washington Valley.
Joining Clapp in the film are Linda Hamilton,
Treat Williams and Jonathan Jackson.
The stars will be seen from Jackson to Madison,
with shooting scheduled Wednesday at Wentworth
Resort in Jackson and
Thursday afternoon at the police station and
district court. Other locations include Carter
Notch Inn, Shannon Door Pub,
Yesterday's, Jack Frost Ski Shop, Chick's
Packaging, Memorial Hospital and behind L.A.
Drew.
Everywhere they've been the response has been the
same.
"They're all very pleasant and so down to earth,"
Richard Johnson, of Jackson, said. "They're nice
people just like we are —
very nice and cordial."
Johnson got the opportunity to chat with
Hamilton, who has been a crowd favorite at the
Wildcat Tavern. "She was very nice,"
Johnson said. "She was extremely approachable and
seemed very outgoing."
Johnson said Marty Sweeney, owner of the tavern,
got a kiss on the cheek from Hamilton. Chef Mike
Simmons has done
catering for the cast and crew and found them all
first rate.
Shooting began Tuesday, May 2, in Jackson and
continues through Wednesday, May 24. Hundreds of
locals have been
recruited as extras.
Owen and Patty Lasker were in a scene at Carter
Notch Inn. Local high school students will
appear in the prom scene to be
filmed this evening at Wentworth Resort decked
out in tuxedos and evening gowns.
One of the teens in the scene will be Clapp's
niece, Kate Howe. Her mom, Polly, of Intervale,
hopes the two can appear
together. "She's psyched," Howe said. "I think
she's more excited about seeing Jonathan Jackson
than Gordon... Gordon's here
but I've only seen him for about half an hour.
I'll go up (to Wentworth today) for the prom
scene and when they're filming I'm
going to (The Shannon Door Pub) for a pizza. I've
already seen how these things work when I was in
New York."
Kevin Drew, of Kearsarge, appeared in a scene
with Jackson shot May 6 in behind L.A. Drew
Intervale. "It was a
non-speaking part," Drew said, laughing. "I'm not
sure how the whole thing went because it was shot
at all sorts of different
angles... I've got my three seconds of fame."
Drew said the business was approached earlier in
the year. A two-story apartment in back of the
business was torched for the
scene. "About the time we were making plans on
that (to tear it down)," he said, "the studio
people came by and asked since
we were in the construction business if we knew
of any property that might be available. We
certainly did."
Bartlett Fire Department was contracted for the
shoot, working for four hours and doing some
training at the same time. "Things
went well," Roger Labbe, fire chief, said.
The fire lit up the sky at about 9:30 p.m.
Saturday. "I thought it went fantastic," Drew
said. "It was really something to see...
Professional pyrotechnic people came in. They
definitely knew what they were doing."
Drew was impressed with the attitude and how
courteous everyone was. "They're just regular
folks out doing their job," he said.
"You sit and watch and it looks like nothing is
happening but you know those guys are going a
hundred miles an hour... It's real
impressive. Apparently they've been real pleased
with the way they've been received in the
community. Maybe this will open up
the door to other movies here."
Cafe Noche in Conway was Thursday's location.
Laurie and Tom Kugel opened the restaurant for
shooting and served a buffet
lunch to 55 during a break in the action.
"Everything went great," Laurie Kugel said.
"Everyone was really nice, very friendly and
extremely polite... It was all very
exciting. The whole process is something to see.
I learned it takes a long time to set up the
lights and cameras."
Kugel was impressed at how the crew had the
technology to turn a gray day into a sunny one as
the script required. "Lots of
lighting," she said.
Williams and Hamilton were filmed in the
restaurant looking out onto Route 16. "They did
the scene from three or four different
angles," Kugel said. "We all had to be perfectly
quiet during filming. The whole thing was really
interesting."
Jackson celebrated his 18th birthday at the
restaurant. Jim and Linda Dunwell, of Jackson,
brought a birthday cake, which fans
Kendra Kugel and Stephanie Hersh were given the
honor of presenting to him. "Jonathan's mom and
brother Richard (of Saved
by the Bell fame) were there to celebrate with
him," Kugel said. "I don't think I've ever seen
Kendra so nervous. She was afraid
she'd drop the cake."
Kugel said none of the staff got in the film, but
believes the structure of the building will show
up well on camera. "I'm not sure
the name of the restaurant will be mentioned, but
they filmed Linda and Treat going out the front
door. There's also a scene up
the street where you can see the side of the
building. There's another shot where Linda is in
a car outside talking to someone in
front of the restaurant. (Laughing) They had a
lot of good shots of our hot sauces. I think we
got a lot of advertising out of the
day... We all had a good day. We served a variety
of things for lunch from tacos to Montezuma's
Pie. Treat Williams bought
some of our hot sauce and got some fajitas to go
at the end of the day. After he left I thought I
probably we should have framed
the money."
Waitress Doreen Tabor said everyone is invited
back any time. "The thing that impressed me the
most was earlier in the day I
met someone and about an hour later when he
wanted something he remembered my name," she
said. "They were just a nice
bunch of people."
Filming was also done at Conway Fire Station on
Thursday. Lt. Keith Noble, Chief Larry Wade and
Engine I were not in the
shot. "We stayed right out of their way," Noble
said. "They did some shots here but they were all
on our staircase and the office
upstairs."
Noble said everyone he met was pleasant. "I met
Mr. Williams and Miss Hamilton and they were very
nice folks," he said. "It
was neat to have them here."
Given his "three seconds of fame" Drew has not
been approached about a sequel or further roles,
but he's quickly learning the
Hollywood ropes. Asked if he's been approached
for any autographs, he smiled and said, "You'll
have to talk to my agent if you
want one."

6.24.00- More Dances With Films coverage in the Hollywood Reporter (no JJ or TR mention):
The third annual Dances With Films festival
starts in Hollywood today with a seven-day lineup
of 18 independent features including "Attack of
the Bat Monsters" and 32 shorts, such as the very
brief "Dinner at the Tarantino Home." The
festival showcases unknown talents in films made
no earlier than January 1998. Festival founder
Leslie Scallon said this year's combined 50
features and film shorts is "almost a tripling"
of the number of entries last year. "Filmmakers
are recommending us as a very fair place to go,"
she said. "Everything is screened by three people
who don't know anybody in relation to that
film." All the entries will screen at the Laemmle
Sunset 5 Theatres in Hollywood. Sponsors include
KCRW-FM, Koo Koo Roo restaurants and the Boston
Beer Co., organizers said Thursday. Written and
directed by Kelly Greene, the 92-minute "Bat
Monsters" portrays the people who made low-budget
science fiction movies in the 1950s.

6.19.00- New poll time again. Last week's poll results were as follows:
6.19.00- From ABC SID:
6.19.00- From the "Love" issue of Seventeen Magazine:
And also later on in the magazine, Jonathan was quoted in a section about going fast or slow in a relationship: 6.19.00- The Emmy's page has been updated with pictures from SID and some quotes. Also, 2 pictures were added on the page for the Movieline Young Hollywood Awards.
6.17.00- From the Dances With Films website:
Synopsis: A raucous dark satire that probes directly into the public’s fascination with Shock TV and real programming. TRUE RIGHTS follows the rise of an eccentric crew of video vultures as they boldly sweep the city in an attempt to secure story rights to the next great Shock TV story. They happen onto a disillusioned, suicidal film era actor who serves as a soulful reminder of the beauty of film in contrast to the new artlessness of “real t.v.” The result is a tightrope walk between comedy and tragedy in the exploration of art vs. voyeurism.
6.17.00- Some more about True Rights:
The premiere of "True Rights," directed by Meg
Thayer, took place on Thursday, May 4, at the
Vine Theater in Hollywood at 7:30 pm. See "LINKS"
below! "True Rights" stars Claudia Christian, Tom
Heard, Jack Betts, Jonathan Jackson, and RIchard
Lee Jackson.
6.17.00- Here's a transcript of what was said in the video interview posted on Movieline.com. Many, many thanks to Regina!
Interviewer: What do you think was breakthrough about this particular
performance?
JJ: Uh, that's a very good question. (laughs)
I: I tried, I worked all afternoon on it and into the evening.
JJ: It was actually, uh I think, the author of the book wrote a brilliant
character, and I was just fortunate enough to be able to, uh, put my input
into it and see what happens, and it, you know, turned out good.
I: When you do that, when you take a character that's been in literature and you
bring it on, do you read the book and develop it from that, or do you just
stick to the script and let your own......
JJ: I read the book too, and it was kind of weird...by the end (gives that
buzz cut a good long sexy scratch lol) I was getting kind of so in sync with
the character that I started to add lines in the script that I hadn't read in
the book yet, and I would get to that part and it was there. (interviewer
must have reacted) Yeah! And it was just a really really good character in
the book, and a lot of depth and Jacqueline Mitchard, the writer, is just
brilliant, so, um, it was a pleasure to me to, you know, bring it to the
screen.
I: Yeah. That's fantastic, very exciting.
JJ: Cool
I: And now, you know, the pressure's off - you've done your Breakthrough
Performance.
JJ: (chuckles) Yeah
I: Now you can do your, you know, a "Lazy, Phone-In Performance".
JJ: That's right. That's next, yeah. All smooth sailing for me. (he & the
interviewer's words overlap here)
I: Yeah you know, from now on, you just tap dance through it, like Leonardo.
(lots of head nodding and "yeahs" in agreement from Jonathan in this part of
the interview) You don't really have to do anything, just kind of have to
show up, cash a check....
JJ: (does NOT take the interviewer's bait - i.e., bash Leo D., - instead he
pauses, and takes the relevant point): I think I'll try to keep...keep doing
breakthrough stuff, you know? Who knows. That's what you shoot for. You
don't ever want to get bored or lazy, you know? Have fun with it.
I: Keep scaring yourself.
JJ: Right. If you don't do something scary every day, then you haven't
really lived, so....
I: I agree. And after this, you and I are going to go jump off a building.
JJ: You bet. (laughs)
I: Into a parked car.
JJ: There you go.
6.17.00- Turns out that "Love" magazine that featured Jonathan as one of "40 Gorgeous Guys" is actually a special issue of Seventeen Magazine.

Jackson, himself, had helpted ease the way for his successor when he chatted with him and left a card wishing him good luck during a visit to the GH studio shortly after Young began as Lucky. Sensitivity is a two-way street, it turns out. When asked about the eponymous song Jackson wrote for Elizabeth, Young said he doesn't want to resurrect it. "That's art. That's Jonathan's. I wouldn't feel right using it." Not that Young plays guitar -- yet. In fact, Geary laughingly suggested that one way to put his own mark on Lucky would be for Young to take up the saxophone instead.
While Young has his work cut out for him for the forseeable future, Jackson is currently between projects. Geary looked on approvingly as Jackson said he's holding out for quality films. "There is so much crap out there, so many movies that are along the same not. I think there is a lot more depth to the generation that I'm growing up in; it's not just pot smoking and sex. It's just so easy and uncreative. They have their audience and that's cool, but I'm a little non-conformist; I'd rather have my career go down the tubes trying to do movies that I'm proud of, and that I like, rather than do stuff that I look back on and ask, 'Why? What was the point?' I don't need a better car."
6.3.00- The Emmy's 2000 page has been updated with more pics and stuff from the soap mags.
6.1.00- Maxine has another auction up on eBay of an autographed copy of the TV Guide article about TIAPH, signed by both Jonathan and Michael Logan. Again, all proceeds go to charity.
6.1.00- Don't forget...the auction for the phone call from Jonathan ends tomorrow. Check it out on eBay, and good luck bidding!

6.1.00- HUGE Skeletons update!!
The article is long, but full of scoops. To read the full text, click here.
"...Powers — who with his wife co-wrote last year’s box office hit, “Deep Blue Sea” — said he was inspired to write the screenplay for the film by the relationship between serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer and his father.
Powers said there is a story that Dahmer’s father asked a judge not to release his son, who had been arrested on a misdemeanor charge at the time, because he believed he needed psychological help. Powers said it was his wife’s idea to write the screenplay for “Skeltons” from the father’s viewpoint.
‘Skeletons in the Closet’ is a psychological thriller about a father [Williams] who slowly comes to believe that his son [Jackson] may have committed a series of murders, but as the mystery progresses, the audience will start to wonder: is the father correct, or is the father actually paranoid and trying to cover up secrets about his own past, because there is also involved a fire in which his wife dies,” said Powers..."
6.1.00- Parts of a recent SOD article featuring Real Andrews:
Then again within the article:
"For now, Andrews is content to live in the present, despite its
intermittent challenges. "Right now, I feel like I'm kind of in one of those
parts of my life where I'm being tested," he shares. "I think you're dealt
certain things to see if you're ready to go to the next level. I welcome
these times. It's been tough, but I just keep my faith. Having friends like
Maurice [Benard] and Jonathan [Jackson] has been a godsend to me.
