j2: tuck everlasting

It was announced via the Official Jackson Brothers email list on April 9, 2001 that Jonathan has landed the lead role of "Jesse Tuck" in Tuck Everlasting, a movie produced by Disney based on the 1975 children's book by Natalie Babbitt. His co-stars include Sissy Spacek, William Hurt, Ben Kingsley, and Alexis Bledel (from The Gilmore Girls).

5/12/02: according to variety, tuck's release date is now back to being october 11th.

5/6/02: alexis bledel is featured in teen people's 25 under 25, and mtv has produced a special on it. during alexis' bit, they show a clip of tuck everlasting! and jonathan is in it! in a pond, in front of a waterfall, speaking with a southern accent. look out for rerun dates listed on the calendar page!
3/21/02: disney's tuck page still forwards to the main disney movie page, but today, tuck everlasting is listed as "coming soon"!
3/19/02: upcomingmovies.com says disney is looking for a new release date for tuck.

12/29/01: there was an article in variety about disney's upcoming movies which mentions tuck: "Tuck Everlasting (Bloomsbury) by Natalie Babbitt, a classic story of everlasting life, originally published in the US but out of print for some years, is being reissued in February 2002 ahead of the release of a Disney film starring Sissy Spacek and Ben Kingsley in the autumn."
10/26/01: a clip of tuck was shown on E! television in a piece about movies being adapted to film. in the clip, it looked like jonathan's character, "jesse," was bouncy and happy, spinning around alexis bledel's character, "winnie." they looked happy and cute!
10/21/01: Tuck gets a rating of PG for "some violence."
8/25/01: Question to Ben Kingsley: Do you prefer a studio movie or independent film? "It depends really on how they use their money. I’ve just finished a film for Disney called Tuck Everlasting and the director was a very fine, intelligent man. When there was a problem, to my relief, the producers did not throw money at it, but they sat down and debated it, so the problem was resolved creatively. I think there is a danger if there is a problem and you’ve got lots of money, you just throw buckets of money at it and it’ll go away but it won’t. 6/26: Dark Horizons posts the following: Tuck Everlasting: 'Tyler Durden FHS' sent in this scoop on a new 'fountain of youth' project currently in production and where to look out for it: "I live in Harford County, Maryland and me and my buddies went over to a local hangout spot which is a waterfall. The waterfall was all closed off and security guards asked us to leave because they were filming scenes from a movie called "Tuck Everlasting", one of the security guards gave me the scoop that it was about the fountain of youth, and it stars Ben Kingsley, Amy Irving, William Hurt, and Sissy Spacek. He said its going to be distributed by Disney, and to expect in theaters in about 9 months".
6/6: Ben Kingsley was on CNN, Larry King Live, last Saturday. He said: "I'm happy to do that if I'm going to love the company of my fellow actors as I did recently in Baltimore. I didn't play a huge part in Tuck Everlasting. I played the devil. And he's a very, very strong recurring theme in the film and I had the most wonderful time playing him." Thanks, Mary!

5/1: The Hollywood Reporter magazine reports that Tuck Everlasting started production April 23rd in Baltimore.
4/29: Noticed today that IMDB has finally added a page for Tuck Everlasting.
4/29: In one recent issue of Entertainment Weekly, it describes Tuck Everlasting as a "weepy fantasy."
