the following is adapted from the DEOTO press packet:

Jonathan decided to try his hand at acting after a visit to Universal Studios Hollywood in 1991. After appearing in three national television commercials, Jackson landed the role of Lucky, the son of Luke and Laura Spencer, on the popular daytime drama - General Hospital. For his work on the series he has received three Emmy Awards as Outstanding Young Actor in 1995, 1997, and 1999. He was nominated in this category in 1996, and just received another nomination for the 2000 awards in May. He also received a Soap Opera Award as Outstanding Child Actor, as well as The Hollywood Reporter Young Star Award in 1995, 1997, and 1999.

While continuing his work on General Hospital, Jackson appeared in the features Free Willy and The New Kid. In 1994, he was cast in his first starring role in a feature film, Camp Nowhere, opposite Christopher Lloyd. He has also starred in the ABC television movie The Legend of Ruby Silver as well as opposite his brother Richard in the original cable film Prisoner of Zenda, Inc. In March of 1999, Jonathan appeared in the movie, The Deep End of the Ocean, playing Vincent Cappadora, the older son to Michelle Pfeiffer's Beth Cappadora -- a role for which he won the Movieline Young Hollywood Award for Breakthrough Performance - Male.

Since leaving the role of Lucky Spencer on GH in April of 1999, Jonathan has worked on several projects including the ABC TV movie, Trapped In A Purple Haze, about a young college coed and heroin abuse, co-starring JoBeth Willams and Carly Pope. He also worked in an independent movie with brother Richard called True Rights where he played a young militia leader. The film has done exceptionally well at film festivals across the nation winning several awards.

Early last year, Jonathan traveled to Ireland to film The Smiling Suicide Club (aka Catch the Sun aka On the Edge) by the acclaimed producer, Jim Sheridan, who has directed such films as My Left Foot, In the Name of the Father, and The Boxer. Jonathan and Richard has also recently premiered a short dramatic film they wrote and directed themselves called Crystal Clear, which won several awards at the Brooklyn Film Festival. Skeletons in the Closet is an independent film from Artisan Entertainment that Jonathan stars in, and co-stars Treat Williams and Linda Hamilton. Also to look forward to is a guest appearance on the FOX show, Night Visions. Jonathan begins filming for the upcoming movie, Insomnia, starring Al Pacino, Robin Williams, and Hillary Swank in April 2001. In late April, he will begin filming for the Disney movie, Tuck Everlasting, where he plays the lead role of Jesse Tuck, opposite Alexis Bledel, William Hurt, Sissey Spacek, and Ben Kingsley.

Jonathan's interest in music has also blossomed throughout the years. His former band, Scarlet Road (which was made of up Jonathan, his brother Richard, dad Rick, and uncle Gary), has released two CDs -- Clash and God Candy. Jonathan also wrote a very special song that was used on General Hospital about Lucky's feelings for Elizabeth. He also released a single about his character from The Deep End of the Ocean. Jonathan continues to pitch his song ideas to acting projects he is connected to, and has been quite successful at it, having had Scarlet Road songs appear in Prisoner of Zenda, Inc., True Rights, Crystal Clear, and Skeletons in the Closet. The God Candy CD also got a little cameo in Trapped In A Purple Haze. In January of 2001, Jonathan and Richard renamed their band to Scarlet River, which consists of just them. A new CD, This I Know, has just been completed and will be available in the Spring of 2001.
